Le Peripezie del Segno /
The Vicissitudes of Sign
Le peripezie del segno (The vicissitudes of signs) is a series of dynamic collages presented in a video loop. The collages proposed, rather than being static two-dimensional pictures, rely on the actions of leafing through, folding, overlapping, and hiding, letting mutable meanings emerge between the proposed images. The process behind the realisation of these works is intuitive and searches for contrasts and affinities between the found images.
The materials used for the collages come from different sources: illustrated books about planet Earth, books on animal and human evolution, books on gardening, magazines used to display industrial progress, postcards…
Le peripezie del segno is meant to be a playful act of discovery around the world of images and the things they refer to. Tematically, this series of collages tries to hold together and create a dialogue between the cultural and the biological by intertwining phenomena and objects belonging to different times and spaces, so to reflect on the multitude of existences.
Predispositions
Predispositions is a photogrpahic series that explores the possible shapes we can find manipulating the given folds of the boxes, and how photography can change such an overlooked object.Predispositions is also an artist book made to collect and expose photographic series on cardboard boxes.
On the back side of this one-sheet publication there is a digital collage inspired by the cardboard geometries. If folded in a certain way the collage is trasformed in a stack of boxes.
Permanent State of Mutation /
Photo of a Cloud
Permanent State of Mutation / Photo of a Cloud is a double side poster that, by analogy, combines the residue of a cloud with a cluster of stickers representing stains, patterns of colours, visible in some dog's fur.The public was invited to randomly paste the stickers on the back side of the printed cloud.
The project is an expression of generative randomness, intertwining the micro and the macro through digital tools and spontaneous participation.
Insertions
The idea of this project was to create a collision between touristic images of Oslo and my photographs, a dialogue between the mediated reality of a mass product and the mediated reality of my personal experience as a “tourist”. To do so I left my photographs into books about Oslo found in libraries and bookshops around the town, looking for connections between images. The juxtapositions were both formal and conceptual. The fruition of these images is an intimate dialogue with random spectators that will leaf through the books found on the library shelf.
Tumbled to the City
The intent of this photographic series was to map how rocks and stones are used and displayed around the urban landscape of Oslo an Göteborg. The series has been printed on thick paper and then binded with cable ties. The resulting book allows the unfolding of the pages to be experienced in different ways, depending on the sequence that is proposed.
Microcosmo
“Microcosmo (April-May 2017, Ex Ospedale al Mare, Lido of Venice)” is a site-specific installation that try to give a vision about the identity of an abandoned hospital throughout its material presences. To do I dedicated myself, during the months of April and May of 2017, to the intuitive collection of found objects inside the hospital, so to move and display them on the empty shelves of ex-archive of the building. The chosen objects were of two categories: things that belonged to the hospital when still in function (medical tools, books, booklets, etc.) and recent objects that show the passing of time and the transit of people during these years of carelessness. If the display of medical objects tends to be the more sober, the second collection presents different compositions and aesthetic arrangements of materials and objects.
Newspaper
Exploring the concept of ephemerality through the caducity of matter, I portraited a series of objects found in a landfill in Vicenza. The backdrop of each photo is a black bag for trash. These images are then printed on a newspaper, ephemeral object par excellence, without texts.
